My name is Nish Patel and I am a web designer / front end web developer based in Leicester, East Midlands. In 2009 I graduated in BSc Computing obtaining a 1st class honours from De Montfort University, Leicester. Since then I have developed a strong passion for the web and in particular web design / front end development and currently working as a full time web designer in the East Midlands area.
Web Designer
As a web designer I like to build websites which have clean coding which are developed to the W3C web standard and visually exciting using JQuery. For me websites need to be interactive, exciting and user friendly. Every web designer acknowledges that a website needs to be cross browser compatible and user friendly. I personally like to use jQuery opposed to Flash to consider iPhone and iPad users too.
I possess strong html, css skills and along with knowledge such as php, mysql, xml and Ruby on Rails, I am fully compliant with the latest Abode Suites such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash etc.
This websites purpose is to demonstrate my skills as a web designer / front end developer and showcase some of my work to the World. More importantly the website demonstrates some of my work regarding the web design and the coding aspects.
SEO
I have had experience working with many clients who have required Search Engine Optimisation (seo) implemented to their websites. All of my websites are built to seo standards so that the clients would attract more traffic and enquiries to their websites. The current economic climate has resulted businesses try to new strategies to promote their businesses and attract new customers. The web and Google are playing a big part in attracting these customers and helping many businesses survive the global recession. I have experience using Google Places, Google Analytics Google Web Master Tool and the Google Keyword Tool.
As a front end developer the website does need to be visually appealing but it is also important to consider whether the website will work for the client and if the webiste will attract traffic via Google Search Engine because most people use the Google search engine to find websites and businesses.
Ecommerce, Magento Shop
I have experience creating ecommerce websites using the Magento framework. I have designed and customised Magento to create online shops for clients. I have had experience in the past using the Model View Controller Architecture and Object Orientated programming with Ruby on Rails and have created an ecommerce platform from scratch for my University dissertation project.
I am keen on continually improving my PHP skills and developing bespoke ecommerce shop for many clients.
I also have experience with Wordpress and have extensive knowledge implementing Blogs and RSS feeds to many websites.
